Eating disorders

Eating disorders can happen to anyone.  You can be skinny, over weight, obese, or even have a normal weight and still have an eating disorder.  If you think you have an eating disorder please ask for help.  It can mean the difference between life or death, literally!  I was almost hospitalized due to deficiencies because of my bingeing and it was the scariest thing I had ever gone through.  Please do this for yourself, being controlled by food is not a way to live.

If you think you have an unhealthy relationship with food, or someone you know has an unhealthy relationship with food, please check out these resources and talk to your family doctor and make an appointment with a counselor or therapist.

Something Fishy talks about all eating disorders including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating and over eating. They give general definitions for each disorder, they talk about misconceptions and there are resources for those with and without eating disorders.

Overeaters Anonymous is a 12 step program, you can meet with a group weekly to help overcome overeating and food addiction.

Anorexics and Bulimics Anonymous is a 12 step program dedicated to stop unhealthy eating practices.

Compulsive eaters anonymous is a step program that welcomes anyone who wants to stop compulsively eating.

All the advice I give is based on my own personal experience.  I am not and do not pretend to be a medical doctor or dietitian.  Nor should anything I say be taken above a doctor or dietitian.  If you are planning on losing weight, or starting an exercise regimen please talk to your doctor first.
